We have a track record in the establishment of new unique investment companies that have been successful in achieving an IPO in London. This activity relates particularly to the infrastructure sector and is closely associated with the asset advisory services and valuation services provided by Akur.
OUR ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Building Companies
Backing our own ideas and those of our partners particularly in infrastructure, we have in recent years established a number of companies, recruiting management and developing business plans/raising initial finance. These companies have either been sold or taken to IPO. In the UK we established the first publicly traded infrastructure fund – The PFI Infrastructure Company plc - that joined AIM in 2004 and in 2007 was acquired in a recommended offer by I² (3i/Barclays Capital/Société Générale) delivering a 35 per cent IRR to the initial institutional and private investors. The transaction ranks as one of the best performing in the closed-end fund market in the UK and enabled investors to secure a full cash exit. In 2006 we established an ethanol/sugar business in Brazil.
In 2008 we developed the concept and recruited the team behind Infrastructure India plc which listed in London the same year. We currently act as Valuation and Portfolio Services advisor to the company and in February 2011 initiated the $240m merger with part of the Guggenheim Group.
Accessing Emerging Markets
In addition to our own direct experience and contact base in many emerging markets we have also established particular partnerships with commercial businesses, advisory teams and individuals in both India and latin America. Through these relationships we are able to assist clients to access these markets to seek business associations, develop franchises and branding partners and obtain investment and export finance.
Business Valuation/Financial Modelling
Our success in capital raising is based upon a fundamental understanding of our clients' cashflow and capital requirements. The approach we adopt is significantly more in-depth than often associated with public market equity financing. As a consequence, we maintain a business valuation/modelling team that is available to our clients and which undertakes work on a project basis. This is often an intermediate step to the commencement of a broader transaction but can be offered as a specific dedicated service.
